The Yacht Club was established in 1934 by a group of prominent Athenians under the name of «Yacht Club of Athens». The Club was renamed in 1936 as «Yacht Club of Greece» and between 1940 and 1973 assumed the title of «Royal Yacht Club of Greece». Presently, the Club is under the auspices of the President of the Republic.
The premises of the Club lie in the city of Piraeus in the historical military port of ancient Athens called «Mounichia», the contemporary colloquial name of which is Mikrolimano.
The

During the year, the Club organises a number of sailing races and supports important social events.
The Main ClubHouse is situated on top of a hill at thesouthwest end of the port which forms a small peninsucula with a unique view of the Phaleron Bay the Saronic Gulf, the islands of Salamis, Aegnia etc., and the city of Athens crowned by the Acropolis. The slopes of the hills are beautifully landscapedwith gardens.

One of the most important sailing events for this summer is the organization of the ILC 40 World Championship. This will be held off Piraeus harbor and organized by the Yacht Club of Greece in cooperation with the Yacht Racing Club of Athens.
